Frequently Asked Questions

Why doesn't Pyram Endocrinology, PC accept any insurances?
There are several reasons why we DO NOT accept insurances:
  • We spend more quality time with our patients than the average medical office, because we understand that your health issues can not be managed in a 5 minute visit.  Therefore, we use virtually all of your appointment time to address your medical issues.  None of your appointment time will ever be spent filing claims for reimbursement to our office from an insurance company.  In other words, we choose to work directly FOR and WITH our patients only.
  • Whether you are uninsured, underinsured or fully insured, we feel that everyone should have easy access to affordable, higher quality health care.  Our fees are very affordable for most everyone. In addition, if you have commercial insurance, you will likely be reimbursed from your insurance company most, or part of the cost of your office visits after you submit your claim (depending on your policy). Accepting insurances into our office would result in a sharp increase of our fees for the uninsured or underinsured patients by 200-300%, which will likely deter many people from receiving the better care they need.
  • Helping to build a strong doctor-patient relationship, is a very important, yet often forgotten responsibility of doctors. Therefore, we respectfully will not use computers in our exam rooms during your visit as we get to understand your needs. The strict, yet often meaningless computer data entry rules/requirements set in place by many insurance companies, do not apply to us.  Using this model of practice, our reputation and patient satisfaction remains unsurpassed in the area.
  • Lastly, if you are sick and in need of a good doctor, it is YOUR choice alone, which doctor you choose to receive care from. We have established ourselves as a great option.
What do the fees cover?
  • Your fee covers the cost of the visit only.  Any prescription, blood work or imaging (such as CT scan or MRI, if needed) will always go through your insurance, if you have insurance.  If you are uninsured, or underinsured, we assist you with finding the most affordable medications, blood work or imaging.
How often are the follow up visits?
  • Follow up visits range between 2 weeks and 1 year, depending on the severity of your illness.  The average diabetic is seen every 3-6 months, while the average thyroid patient may be seen every 6-12 months.  Of note, the fees for follow up visits range between $45-$90.
Is Dr. Pyram Board Certified?
  • Dr. Pyram is double board certified: Internal Medicine and Endocrinology.
I don't have a Primary Care Physician, what should I do?
  • You do not need a referral to establish care with us.
  • If you are established with us, yet in need of a Primary Care doctor, we can help.  We now provide primary care to those in need of a Primary Care doctor.
I need to see an Endocrinologist as soon as possible.  When is the next available appointment?
  • Access to affordable, quality medical care is a major issue in America, but not here at Pyram Endocrinology, PC.  We continue to see all new patients within 1 week, but often times within 24 hours. Call for an appointment today at 570.362.7862.
